Jack Holt Walking for God on Highway 160

Jack Holt Walking for God on Highway 160 – For almost a year now, I have passed this man on Highway 160 in Hamblen County either walking up or down the highway on the same side. He’s always waving one hand or the other as traffic goes by.

The first time I saw him I immediately prayed for him. And then I saw him again the next day and then I kept seeing him day after day in my commute to work.

For months, I have been wanting to stop to talk to him but have had a chance.

I’ve seen them every day on my way to work regardless of rain, snow, cold or heat. He us always walking and waiving. I also felt he was praying over the passing traffic too.

And I have prayed for him every day that I have seen him he’s out there regardless of rain snow cold or heat.

I see him waving with both hands he takes hers I feel that he’s praying for everybody that is traveling along that highway as if he’s a prayer walker a prayer warrior type person.

He seems to be an older gentleman. It wasn’t until recently I found out his name, Jack Holt, according to a local newspaper article from 2018. So I am not the only one who wanted to know more. I just wished I had time to stop to talk to Holt. Maybe in the future I can.

Holt walks this Monday to Saturday, 6 days per week according to the article. He actually has been doing this for 8 to 9 years now and all for God!

“I’ve got a very good congregation out here, They honk and they wave.”

He added God gave him the idea to start walking.

he had health problems and diabetes, he said.

“I was a mighty sick man at one time,” he said.

He said he prayed to God for help.

“I said something has to happen,” he said.

God gave Holt the same answer over and over … two arms, two legs, to use them. So Holt uses them by walking every morning and added he has been cured of all his ailments he struggled with.

He has had some close calls according to that article written about 4 years ago. Making it almost 8-9 years of walking. I am sure he gets a lot of steps in!

Every now and then people stop to try and give him food or clothes, but he said he doesn’t want it. He just wants to do the work of the Lord.

Holt has had some close calls too out on the highway walking. “There’s been some nuts who came close The worse they can do is ruin a perfectly good automobile.” said Jack Holt.

On Sundays, he said he heads downtown and walks on Main Street and South Cumberland Street.

He starts his waking at 7 am and the only time he won’t walk is if it is lightening.

Even Jason Hitesman wrote about him too, so I’m not the only one! Hitesman says in his post he and his son sees him too and adds Simple Acts Matter. Jack Holt Matters.

I always wave back but maybe I’ll beep too like I do with road side mascots.

If I get to talk to him soon, I’ll post about that too. I would ask him that, the article didn’t say, but i feel he does being a man of God.

Updated:

I got to stop and talk to Jack Holt on April 7, 2020. I asked if he prays as he walks, he just shrugged his shoulders and said well I just walk for Him pointing up and added, He is amazing and done a lot of miracles in him.

Holt continued to say, all he knows is he has to put on his coat and walk. (Safety vest). He hopes he can be a light to the people. He also welcomes people to stop and talk to him.
